1911 - We start with the founder of the company, Franz Bettermann. He establishes his own sheet metal factory for technical fastening systems.

The development of the production program continues with the introduction of items made of thermosetting and thermoplastic materials. OBO V-15 sets new standards in the field of surge protection, marking the beginning of numerous innovations in the industry. The consistent expansion of its own subsidiaries and branches spans from Philadelphia to Beijing, from Helsinki to Sao Paolo.

The establishment of OBO BETTERMANN Hungary Kft. in Budapest, which is currently OBO's central production and logistics site for Southeast Europe. The new BET research center is inaugurated, featuring one of the largest impulse current generators in Europe and numerous test facilities, setting new standards for flexibility and speed with the commissioning of the world's most modern galvanizing plant in Hungary.

After the DAHL-KANAL brand had been present on the market for over 40 years, OBO BETTERMANN introduces this brand as an independent product line. DAHL-KANAL is a market leader in the field of cable channels. OBO continues the production and brand of the eponymous company founded in 1919 by Albert Ackermann.

Thus, OBO becomes a market leader in the field of floor systems and a European leader in the Cable Management systems sector.


2010 – OBO takes over the production of electrical equipment from the precision tube manufacturer Vincent Wiederholt, founded in 1909, and develops its own activity in tube production as a complement to wiring.

2011 –
OBO reaches 100 years and expands. On an area of 30,000 m², OBO prepares a future-oriented production facility with a €40 million investment, featuring a unique integrated thermal galvanizing installation in the world.

2012 –
Acquisition of the market leader in cabling products in South Africa and delisting from the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Together with over 700 ARMCO O-LINE employees on the African continent, the Betterman group has over 3,000 employees globally. OBO Bettermann produces 30,000 products with 3,000 employees and achieves annual total sales of 500 million euros, with more than 40 subsidiaries.
